Hellen van Rees is a Dutch fashion designer who launched an eponymous label back in 2012 upon her graduation (MA) from the prestigious Central Saint Martins in London. Prior to that Hellen van Rees achieved a BA in Fashion Design at ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem. A passion for textures and contrast lies at the heart of her work. Furthermore, a consciousness and sensitivity to the environment and a critical approach to consumerism play an important part in her approach. The lack of high-end, contemporary, innovative fashion labels with an eye for the environment is one of the reasons why Hellen decided to start her own label. The eponymous brand uses organic textiles and production leftovers for the creation of its garments.
HELLEN VAN REES offers the avant-garde, based on traditional silhouettes and garment shapes, featuring unique textiles, handmade fabrics, contrasting textures and innovative finishes. According to Hellen, “differences occurring through a human action in a production process are worth celebrating. »Click here voor Hellen’s TEDx Talk about ‘artisanal intelligence’.
