Anna Ruohonen

Anna Ruohonen is a Finnish Paris-based fashion designer and founder of her own clothing label Anna Ruohonen Paris. She designs sustainable luxury fashion. Her mission is to create timeless designs and bring beauty to everyday life. The designer has two showrooms, one in Paris and one in Helsinki.

The concept
The concept of Anna Ruohonen Paris label is unique in the contemporary fashion world. Everything, except the ready-to-wear collection is made-to-measure. Each garment is made according to one’s own size, therefore she is able to provide each client individual, well-cut, high-quality clothes. Her made-to-measure line is produced in her atelier Petite Maison de Couture in Paris.

Sustainable fashion
Anna Ruohonen fashion philosophy is based on sustainability. All the designs are produced on demand only. There is no surplus or unsold garments, no unnecessary stock or prototypes. In order to produce and consume fashion in a sustainable way, we need to concentrate on quality and reduce quantity. Our buying should be intentional and each purchase well-considered.

The ready-to-wear casual line AR by Anna Ruohonen is produced entirely in Finland. The materials are manufactured and the garments sewn locally in small quantities. The garments can be transported using ground networks and the impact on the environment is minimized.

Designs that endure time
Anna Ruohonen designs are a combination of classic and contemporary; a combination of Nordic minimalism and French elegance.

For her the material is the foundation for every single design. The fabrics provide guidance in the process of creation and development of each design. She prefers natural materials of noble character. She combines them with simple, architectural cuts and fine craftsmanship and this gives garments a sophisticated contemporary look which characterizes all her creations.

Nordic simplicity with a dutch twist meets french elegance
Anna Ruohonen has studied in several fashion schools in Europe. She earned a Master of Arts degree from the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, Finland. She has also studied fashion extensively in The Gerrit Rietveld Academie Amsterdam, Utrecht University of the Arts in the Netherlands and the Institut Francais de la Mode in Paris.
