Open Call: Paris+ by Art Basel

Open call in het Engels

From 19 to 22 October 2023, Paris will be the place to be for the international contemporary art scene through the presence of Paris+ by Art Basel, the international contemporary art fair that will take place at the Grand Palais Ephémère. An ideal moment for contemporary artists, institutions and curators who would like to present their work to an international audience.

Open Call

The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in France launches an Open Call for an artistic programme during Paris+ by Art Basel, to be hosted at the Atelier Néerlandais (121 Rue de Lille, 75007 Paris), the cultural platform of the embassy and member association for entrepreneurs in the cultural and creative sector.
If you are a Dutch cultural institution, educational organisation, artist-run space, gallery, artist, or curator, active within the contemporary arts, this is your opportunity to showcase your work during this key moment on the international art calendar.

What do we offer?

The opportunity to present your programme during Paris+ by Art Basel in a unique venue, the Atelier Néerlandais, within walking distance from the Grand Palais Ephémère where the art fair will take place.
In addition, both the Embassy as well as the Atelier Néerlandais will support the winning project through their relevant (social) media outlets and network.
The Embassy will grant financial support of 50% of the total budget up to a maximum of 20.000 euros, based upon the itemised budget that needs to be part of your proposal.

What do we ask?

Please send us a concise plan of your proposal in English in one PDF-file including the following elements:
• A description of the programme to be held at the Atelier Néerlandais (19 to 22 October 2023) and your motivation for participating in this Open Call (max. 2 A4-pages)
• A visualisation of the works that will be shown with their technical descriptions
• Your CV
• An itemised budget.
Proposals should preferably go beyond the organisation of solely an exhibition. Think also of a varied fringe programme that promotes the Dutch contemporary art scene to an international audience of art professionals and enthusiasts, stimulating French-Dutch cooperation. Examples: workshops, debates, readings, portfolio reviews etc.
We would like to see proposals that include international, notably French, partners and/or audiences. Please specify partners from your network that you will be able to include in the programming and possible strategies for attracting an (international) audience. Knowledge of the French language is a plus, as well as experience with presenting and working in France and for an international audience.

Selection of the winning proposal

The jury responsible for the selection of the winning proposal is composed of Nicolette Koopman, Cultural Attaché at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in France, Nanda Janssen, independent Curator and Writer, and Agnès Raux, Senior Officer Culture at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in France. The winning proposal will be announced by mid-June.
